SSgt Pete is Home!

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Following a long transition back, Ssgt Pete is home at last. Everyone is delighted.

PeteNPam

Most everyone dropped by to say howdy and get together.

Red Hat

Red Hats are all the passion for  tiny wimmins.

Pete Repete Eva and Beth

Pete gets to say hi to Eva. She is about 7 months old, and he has been gone for 15 months.

Julie and Emily

No matter how you stack it, these are the days they will remember.

Maizie

Time goes so fast. We all need to remember to savor it.

Chris and Eva

I can remember when Chris was this size.

Sugah and Cookie

Faithful companions and guardians.

Eva Has a Web Page

Friday, June 29th, 2007

And we want to share a photo or two from it.

Eva with Green Goo

It can’t be spinach, she doesn’t think she is Popeye. She identifies with someone totally different.

Superguys

Looks like her daddy’s influence to me. Mom dresses her different.

Eva & Mommie

If she gets any cuter I am gonna pass out.

Catholic Gasoline

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Sister Mary, who worked for a home health agency, was out making herrounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas.

As luck would have it, a gas station was just a block away She walked to

the station to borrow a gas can and buy some gas.

The attendant told her that the only gas can he owned had been loaned

out, but she could wait until it was returned.

Since the nun was on the way to see a patient, she decided not to wait

and walked back to her car.

She looked for something in her car that she

could fill with gas and

spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient.

Always resourceful, she carried the bedpan to the station, filled it

with gas, and carried the full bedpan back to her car.

As she was pouring the gas into her tank, two men watched from across the street.

One of them turned to the other and said, “If it starts, I’m turning Catholic.”

Bush Haters Take Note

Friday, June 29th, 2007

In the UK Blair is gone. Of course you Bush Bashers know when the President leaves the terrorists will back off and leave us alone.

Except they won’t they will be encouraged as they are in Britian after Tony Blair leaves.

They sure quit with British Terror didn’t they?

I am sure that as soon as President Bush leaves .. if Hillary is pres this will happen here in spades.

The Road to the Magical Forest

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Hills

The Magical Forest is located deep in the green country. It has a tradition I am familiar with and at the same time alien to. Army stuff eh?  I had been to the Magical  Forest as a Marine several times … yea we do work together yanno.

As you all know we don’t talk about what the guys in the Magical Forest do specifically. However we can take a peek at their origins via a museum of golden oldies.

museum

It is here where the history and memories are stored and protected. This museum is very up to date. We will show a little of the old days but none of the current things.

WWII Jumper

In the foreground a WWII Paratrooper. Behind him a HALO jumper. HALO stands for High Altitude Low Open jumper. They exit the aircraft at such an altitude that they require oxygen. Then they freefall for a looooooong time and open the chute at low altitude. The idea is to get into an area and avoid detection.

In order to save some space and get a post up we will cut short the history stuff for now except for this photo I call Popeye. I never knew that Popeye was in the Airborne during WWII … but here he is as a museum piece.

Popeye

Okay I don’t know what happened to his pipe or his spinach either. And I know for sure this is NOT Olive Oil. And I know for sure she is NOT liking being hit on.

So in closing for now … as we will be active as heck for the next few days … here is Ram as we enjoyed breakfast near the Magical Forest on our first Saturday there.

Ram

Breakfast was great. Life is good. More to follow.

Homecoming

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Ma and I are back home. We had a great visit. Gonna take a lil bit to unpack and relax. Will post and show photos in a bit.

In the meantime Ssgt Pete is in Mississippi, and will be flying home to an inconvenient city in this state at about 5 AM tomorrow. Pambo and Jujubeans and Repete have already left to be in place when he arrives. The van is painted up with Welcome Home Ssgt Daddy signs, and the anticipation is thick enought to cut with a knife.

We will have photos of them when they arrive.

Chris and Beth will be coming into town tomorrow evening. They will stay with Beth’s folks and we get to see them on Saturday.

Of course next Wednesday is the 4th, more photos then.

Life is good.

Light to moderate

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Doing some travelling over the next week. Posts will be light to moderate. I hear that Ram and Chris bought a computer game they can play on line.

Just like the old days eh guys?

Ram took two tests on puters the first of the week and got 100’s on both of them. Now he moves on to the electronic part of the course. Remember Ram, never lick any bare wires.

Should have photos to post when we get back, and Chris and Beth and Eva will be visiting about then. More photos.

Shortly after that of course, we hope to welcome Ssgt Pete back. I think we just set a record for taking time to get a post card to Pete. He got the one yesterday that we mailed about this time last month.

Gotta love it!

Some Kinda Coffee Cup

Monday, June 18th, 2007

It’s funny but in the military, especially in the Marines and Army, folks tend to have meager possessions. You live in a small room on base, and you carry everything you have with you in the field. It’s a spartan existence. And in those conditions, some things mean a lot to you.

Ram now has one of those meaningful possessions. It’s a coffee cup. Not just any coffeecup, but a coffeecup with his Goddaughter on it. It looks something like this:

Eva

He loves it. He says it reminds him of another little girl wearing pink sunglasses .. sitting back with her feet up named Jujubeans.

Thank you, thank you very much.

Welcome to Jujubeans

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

Hello Jujubeans … also known as Julie.

Miss Julie made a few comments on here tonight. She is a cutie.

Comments to Ram .. to her daddy .. to her cousins and to Booger the cat.

Welcome aboard Julie Miss Jujubeans.

Here is her comment about her daddy coming home soon … she commented under fishing … Ssgt Pete coming home and a few others.

Jujubeans Says:

Ram is sooo funny! I can’t wait till my daddy comes home. It’s only a couple of days till he comes home!!!!!!!!!!!!! When he comes home we will relax and forget about the big honken sandbox. We will just stay home and SNUGGLE!!! We made posters for when daddy comes home. I wonder if we’re going to be the only ones with posters, but I’m sure there will be other people with posters. (At least I hope) I just can’t wait till my HERO comes home!! ”

Fishing Time

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Saturday at the lake. 90+ degrees. A tad warm for fishing.

Kid friendly lake

Ma, Noah, Peter, Julie and Emily …. warm up to the quest for the fish. Time flies. These kids have grown a lot and gotten better at this stuff.

More Fishing

Jim helps Maizie get started. Ram said to take lots of photos. So we did. But everytime I try to put up a lot of photos here, this software gets screwy. I am gonna piece together a small web page with just photos on it and I will link it here as soon as I get it under control.

Standbye.

And now for the photos .. click here
