“For John Heuer, burning a fake draft card on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus was a sort of deja vu.
Heuer said he burned draft cards in 1971 while refusing to be part of President Nixon’s army. He put his cigarette lighter to a symbolic card Thursday to support a student group’s anti-war rally.
“It’s important to get the word out in a creative way,” said Heuer, a retired UNC facilities designer.
About 30 people attended the brief noon rally in the Pit outside the Student Union. Members of UNC-CH Students for a Democratic Society handed out fake draft cards and sarcastically solicited passers-by to sign up for military duty in Iraq.”

“Authorities in New York City are looking for the culprit who set off the rudimentary explosive device in Times Square early Thursday, with one witness describing a hooded man on a bicycle wearing a backpack and acting suspiciously just before the blast at the recruiting station.
New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said an ammunition box was found at the scene.
“This was not a particularly sophisticated device,” he said during the Thursday press conference.
Kelly said police were talking to a witness who was in the area shortly before the 3:45 a.m. explosion. The witness described a male bicyclist wearing a hood, dark clothing and a backpack and acting strangely — but said didn’t see the man’s face, according to Kelly.”
Well that was a really effective blow to the American military. I bet they pull outta Iraq now!

Yea, he is a moron Pa. But I’m getting tired of this crap. So I’m gonna borrow some whine from the lefties and say that recruiting stations need to be protected by special hate crime laws.
Anyone who attacks a recruiting station has to do duty cleaning up mine fields. Let’s start in Afghanistan and drag them along the ground on a SPIE line from a Huey. I bet the guys in the Huey would even cheer them on! We’ll pad them up really well so they won’t scuff their precious skin on the rocks. Nothing that would withstand a mine blast or anything, just some old blankets and such. If they make it through say, oh, 100 acres of mine field, then they get parolled for “lucky” behavior. If they don’t make it, well, one less scum bag in the world and another few acres of mine field cleared. I think it’s the best use of one’s assets.
