An Evening with Heros

Yes that word in a way chafes them. But it is what they are. Why were they here? Simple to speak the truth, as opposted to what the radical left media weenies spread around.

Three who have been there done that.

Capt. Pete Hegseth (US Army formerly of the 101 Airborne)  Gunner Tom Parks USMC (ret)  and Ssgt. David Bellavia (1st Infantry Division), author of “House to House” If you have a chance to buy David’s book I recommend it. I was fortunate enough to get mine autographed.

They are passionate, they are focused. They want to tell what really is going on despite the barking moonbats. Vets for Freedom.

conference table talk

The meeting took place in a conference room at Liberty Memorial, which is a World War I museum. A truely remarkable place. The woman across from the vets sitting directly to the right of the woman in the light blue sweater is Kat from Castle Argghhh. She did an extreemly good job of recording what happened, much better than I could. I recommend reading it hear at Castle Argghhh.

To a man each of these guys are luck to be alive. To a man they are all humble and fervent. They don’t consider themselves better than anyone else. But make no mistake they have all been to the village and seen the elephant.

Their tales of heroism are delivered in a simple matter of fact way, none of them consider themselves heros. No one can proclaim themself a hero. You are only a hero if others recognise that about you.

Uncle Jimbo of Blackfive ... The Paratrooper of Love

Before the evening was over I had to go kick open the door on the bus (okay I knocked) and say howdy to Uncle Jimbo. To those of you who don’t know him, he is a total wild man. He is a retired Green Beret, a Weapons Sergeant. I got to shuck and jive with him for a few minutes and take a photo of him and Kat.

I even got to talk about a new SF type I had heard of.

You can check out Jimbo’s show at Blackfive … and take a peek at the post he wrote about his visit here last night.

To us they will ALWAYS be heroes. And the truly real heroes never think of themselves as heroes.

So much positive and wonderful energy in the photos!

I am glad I got to go too Karen. These guys are really decent people.

I almost didn’t get to go. The info on this presentation was mixed up. One announcement said Thursday night, another … Wednesday night. That mix up resulted in a small turn out.

Ma and I were preparing to go Thursday night. When Wednesday came I discovered it was that night. We had planned to have Juju and SkateBoard Brother stay with us while the folks went out dancing.

So Ma stayed home and I went to the meeting. Ma and I met Kat when all the grandkids and us participated in a St Patrick’s Day parade with “Soldiers’ Angels” Kat was there covering it for Castle Argghhh.
