“FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — An idea to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp for war-on-terror detainees and transfer the prisoners to the military prison here — championed for more than a year by Republican presidential hopeful John McCain — has drawn sharp opposition from the base’s commander and both of Kansas’ U.S. senators.

The opposition is a sign of a split within the GOP over detainee policy in a state that traditionally has voted Republican in presidential elections. Both Kansas senators, Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts, are Republicans.

In a letter to their fellow senators Wednesday, the two pleaded that their state not become home to any prisoners still in U.S. custody when Guantanamo is closed, something both McCain and Democratic hopeful Barrack Obama have pledged to do as president.

“We do not believe it is fair to ask our best corrections officers to disrupt the mission they perform so well in order to take on a detainee mission that will not improve on arrangements at Guantanamo Bay,” the senators wrote. “Nor is it fair to ask the Kansas community to assume the responsibility associated with being located immediately adjacent to these detainees.”

Their concerns are echoed by Army Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV, the base commander, who told McClatchy on Monday that while he hadn’t been asked his opinion, he had decided on a response: “If you really want to bring them someplace back on the mainland of the United States of America,” he said, “you should find some other location. Not here would be my proposal.”

Caldwell said the Fort Leavenworth prison, known formally as the Disciplinary Barracks, would require a major revamping if foreigners were to be housed here.

“Our facilities aren’t built or equipped to really handle that type of population. There would have to be dramatic changes that would be made here. I mean significantly dramatic changes,” Caldwell said.

Caldwell also said holding suspected terrorists in an area that also houses military families would present problems as well.

‘We have a huge family population at Fort Leavenworth. I mean it’s enormous,” he said. “Is that what you want literally a mile away from where you have all these young families?’”

You know I am really going to have to vote for McCain with tears in my eyes and a bottle of Scoresby at home when I get there. The guy is a total moron. Anyone who has been to Leavenworth knows what a totally screwy idea this is on a number of levels.

“(CNSNews.com) - Following Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling on gun rights, Second Amendment groups are preparing to challenge gun bans in cities other than Washington, D.C.

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) announced Thursday they already have filed a federal lawsuit challenging Chicago’s long-standing handgun ban. The case is McDonald v. City of Chicago.

The National Rifle Association has said it also plans to challenge gun bans in Chicago and San Francisco.

“Chicago’s handgun ban has failed to stop violent crime,” said SAF founder Alan Gottlieb. In Chicago, it is illegal to possess a handgun within city limits, unless the gun was purchased before the 1982 ban took effect. (There are some exceptions for police officers and city leaders.)

Other guns — not handguns — can be registered, but the process is onerous, critics complain.

Plaintiffs in McDonald v. City of Chicago include four city residents who want to keep handguns in their homes. (Otis McDonald is a retiree who has been working with police to rid his neighborhood of drug dealers and who wants a handgun for protection.)”

The campaign has begun. Anyone who watched the Mayor of DC the honorable Percy Moonbat talk about all the gun control that DC intends to maintain in spite of the decision, witnessed a really angry crowd. The decision was for an individual right to bear arms. It had specific reference to “handguns” in the home. Mayor Moonbat … in an in your face manner dictated how that meant a revolver only. There will be no automatic (his words) or semi automatic pistols allowed. So the next lawsuit will be all about a semi auto pistol being an actual handgun and allowed. This thing will probably be fought over a hundred slightly different battlefields over the next few years.

Even places like Chicago and the People’s Republik of San Fransisco will not voluntarily follow the new high court ruling. However they will be forced to. One thing at a time.

None-the-less this decision is historical. It differentiates us from the rest of the world. Perhaps it even gives ordinary Brits and Aussies hope… no no not to restore a second ammendment they never had, but to push for gun ownership based on the right to self defense. I think Canada is a write off here …. doing drugs is a requirement for public office there.

Pageant of togetherness
As for me, I’m back in New Hampshire, always a joy, to witness an ironically named “Unity” event in the tiny town of the same name (pop. 1,600).

Here, Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will perform in a pageant of Democratic togetherness in the muddy backyard of a local school.

In a town that some Granite Staters can’t find on a map, Obama and Clinton will try to convince the world — and, more importantly, each other — that their clans can play nice.

Despite the talk of unity in Unity (where Obama and Clinton each got 107 votes last in January’s primary), things are rough and emotional behind the scenes.

There is too much pride and, perhaps, too much money involved.”

Not to mention EGO. MS Inevitable is still miffed…. and Bill? … don’t even go there.

The entire thing reminds me of the USSR before the fall. Always presenting a Rah Rah propaganda image of unity and pride and solidarity … they rotted internally and fell apart. Yugoslavia is a perfect example. While Tito ruled (with an iron fist) to the outside world it looked like the Serbs the Croatians, and the Bosnians were a perfect example of unity. After the fall it was aparent to all they were and always have been at each other’s throats. It’s kinda like the Obamians and the Clintonistas.

So it is apparent to me that now is the time to recognize the official state of Demoslavia, where the Obanamians, and the Clintonistas, and the KOSians, and the Code Pinkies battle for influence and control. It is a loosely connected and fragile collection of largely egomanical and disfunctional (infected with Bush Derangement Syndrome) actors and actresses who pretend to be normal and incharge.

It kinda reminds me of the cast of the Rocky Picture Show.

What is the most important thing in all this?

During the Vietnam War veterans were insulted and spit at. They were called baby killers and worse. They were left to face it alone. Phone calls were made to families of solders lying to them that their son had been killed and what a great day it was. Thanks to the SDS, and the Weathermen (read about them below … friends of Obama). Recruiters and offices were attacked … ROTC buildings burned …. the Student Union at KU burned as protest ………..

And in all of this … there were no orginizations such as Move America Forward … Soldier’s Angels … and all the other wonderful groups and individuals who banded together to stand up for the troops at home.

God Bless them and keep them.

And another thing Moonbats …. just in case you haven’t learned … never mess with Church Ladies or Red Heads or Petite Blondes or Fire in the eyes troop supporters, or Moms who stand up in the fact of shouting and insults …. and push back.

If it weren’t for you … this would be Vietnam all over again.

One senior Japanese General was asked why they didn’t invade America.  His response was (roughly) “We knew everyone in America has a gun. We are not crazy.”

“WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices’ first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.

The court’s 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia’s 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision went further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms laws intact.

The court had not conclusively interpreted the Second Amendment since its ratification in 1791. The amendment reads: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

The basic issue for the justices was whether the amendment protects an individual’s right to own guns no matter what, or whether that right is somehow tied to service in a state militia.

Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for four colleagues, said the Constitution does not permit “the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home.”

Now after those clinker decisions handed down recently by the Supreme Court I was a touch concerned about this one. But thank God and the NRA our indivicual right to have a weapon is affirmed. So whether you carry a 1911 .45 or a Lady Smith, you can sleep better tonight.

And those who would subjugate us all (Soros, A.N.S.W.E.R. Barking Moonbats, Marxists and general elitist rif ram) can all eat dirt (or lead) and die.

Recall what would happen in Soviet Russian textbooks when a trotskyist or bukharinite got purged by Uncle Joe, as Klonsky lovingly recalls the dictator Joseph Stalin at this reunion of SDS in November of last year in Chicago: their pictures would quickly get airbrushed out of the old photographs, without any explanation.

(Of course, the disappearance was not just in text books. Millions lost their lives. One day they were there, the next day they were gone, poof, off to Siberia or to the basement of KGB headquarters to be shot.)

Earlier today when one went to the Community Blogs on the Obama website there was the Klonsky blog on education policy and something he calls “social justice teaching.” Tonight, all you get at the same “freedom teachers” URL is: “Invalid blog/profile URL.” Today’s softer version of the Stalinist airbrush. Let’s hope it was a soft landing, comrade.
We know there are plenty of warm bodies down there to cushion your fall.”

These guys are busier than a cat trying to cover up poop on a marble table. Have you ever seen a bunch of cockroaches scurry when the light is turned on them? Kinda reminds me of these guys.

All trips must come to an end. And so we begin the journey home on Air France.

There were sights to see in New York as well.

Pete especially wanted to see the World Trade Center site. So they did.

You guessed it …. the ride out to see the Lady.

In evaluating Obama for suitability for president, we must pay attention to a very disturbing trend. One or two people like Ayers, or Wright in his inner circle may be coincidence.

When they become a real large group, it tells us about where Obama’s ideas, and support come from. Of course there is a loud clamoring that those things can’t be pointed out. So loud in fact that things like this are not hitting the big media.

Between 1979 and 1981, Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) (CPML) chairman and Obama supporter Mike Klonsky was repeatedly feted with state-dinner-level visits to Beijing.

It must be pointed out that a notorious ally of Bill Ayers for many years, Mike Klonsky, is an open member of the Obama campaign. Klonsky runs a blog on the official Obama website here where he claims to be a “professor of education” (the website of the Small Schools Workshop that he directs says only that he teaches some graduate courses, though it appears he was a visiting professor for one year at Nova Southeastern University in Florida in 2006-07) and says he blogs for Obama on “education politics and teaching for social justice.”

Who is Mike Klonsky? Well, on one level, he might just appear to be a protege of Bill Ayers in the education world. He received, as I detail below, a $175,000 grant from the Ayers/Obama-led Annenberg Challenge to run the Small Schools Workshop that he and Ayers started in Chicago to push their school reform agenda.

But that is only half the story. Klonsky was one of the most destructive hardline Maoists in the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in the late 60’s who emerged from SDS to form a pro-Chinese sect called the October League that later became the Beijing-recognized Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist). As chairman of the party, Klonsky travelled to Beijing itself in 1977 and, literally, toasted the Chinese stalinist leadership who, in turn, “hailed the formation of the CP(ML) as ‘reflecting the aspirations of the proletariat and working people,’ effectively recognizing the group as the all-but-official US Maoist party.” (Elbaum, Revolution in the Air, 228).”

Who and What is the SDS and Weatherman?

“SDS’s initial efforts at the promotion of civil rights, voting rights, and urban reform were gradually overshadowed by its focus on the Vietnam War. In April 1965, SDS advertised its opposition to the War by participating in the March on Washington.

Many key SDS members were “red-diaper babies,” children of parents who were Communist Party members or Communist activists in the 1930s. In 1966, when President Lyndon Johnson abolished student draft deferments, some 300 new SDS chapters were formed. Among the organization’s activities were: disrupting ROTC classes, staging draft card burnings, and harassing campus recruiters for the CIA and for firms that conducted research tied in some way to national defense. SDS also occupied buildings at universities such as Columbia and destroyed draft records. 

At the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago, SDS protestors, organized by Tom Hayden, created a riot in order to destroy the electoral chances of the pro-war liberal Hubert Humphrey, and thereby set the stage for a confrontation with the Nixon Administration over the Vietnam War. Hayden and his cohorts – including Jerry Rubin, Abby Hoffman and Black Panther Bobby Seale — were arrested and indicted for crossing state lines to incite a riot. They became known as The Chicago Seven. In a celebrated trial (whose guilty verdict was subsequently overturned on a technicality), they were given token sentences. 

In 1969 SDS began imploding into factions. One of them, a group calling itself Weatherman, was elected to SDS leadership and proclaimed that the time had come to launch a race war on behalf of the Third World and against the United States. The new entity dissolved SDS and formed a terrorist cult in its place, which was given the name Weather Underground.”

And now you know what too many Obama supporters are tied to. It is really important that Obama be “handled” so that his real beliefs are not made obvious. He is making a huge effort to run to the center now, but he is a Radical Leftist with long time friends who hate this country and really want “Change”. They are the enemy.
