Veterans For A Strong America

We are formed. We are official. We are a group of veterans, and family, and friends who will be working to return America to sanity.

The current group in office are not liberals, they are statists.

“stat⋅ism  /ˈsteɪtɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [stey-tiz-uhm] Show IPA
Use statism in a Sentence–noun 1. the principle or policy of concentrating extensive economic, political, and related controls in the state at the cost of individual liberty.”

We seek Republican, Democrat, and Independents who oppose that concept, and the reality.

We seek people who want a plan of action, and who are willing to work.

Our blog is located here

Daniel Gilyeat, the Candidate

June 28, 2009 on 1:43 pm | In Mil Blog, Politics | 13 Comments

He had a chance to speak to the crowd. He received a standing ovation. He is an underdog, and folks recognized that and seemed to be pulling for him. Now we work to support him and his candidacy. The road is long. The time is short.

Let the games begin! Over the weekend we are launching a support group to support good solid AMERICAN candidates. In the beginning we were planning to start with local elections, you know, dog catcher, school board, city council etc and get some experience and hopefully begin to have an effect.

Late last week we discovered that Daniel Gilyeat, was a declared candidate for the US Congress in the 3rd District. He is opposed by two other Republican candidates in the primary. They may be good people I don’t know. I know Danny. I support Danny.

The ultimate result of this campaign is a face off with Dennis Moore for a seat in the US Congress. Moore is a sly underhanded snake oil selling Johnson County lawyer who cloaks himself in the mask of “Blue Dog” Democrat. You know, one of those guys who pretend to be independent thinkers. His voting record clearly positions him as a Pelosi Poodle. He doesn’t go to the bathroom without Nancy’s consent.

A hot day in the park.

Ma and I stayed at the Bradford Inn this time. It is a Bed and Breakfast outside of Branson. For those of you who remember, it is near Campton Ridge Camp Grounds. That's where we lost Chris in the dark one night when he was little. We finially found him and he was not happy with us. This is the view out our door of the outlook area.

Obama the Muslim

Mike N sends:

“Shep Smith, Fox News
If you check Obama’s last trip over seas, His wife left just after their visit to France as stated below. She has yet to accompany him to any Arab country. Think about it. This was sent to me from a very good and reliable friend. The pieces of the puzzle just keep on
coming together!

Interesting…

I did not write this…someone forwarded it to me…but my wife lived in Saudi Arabia for two years, and from what she tells me, it makes sense!

Subject: Travel for Obama
I was at a Blockbusters on Saturday renting videos, and as I was going along the wall, there was a video called “Obama”. I told the two men next to me that I wouldn’t waste my time. We talked about Obama. These guys were Arabs and I asked them why they thought Michele Obama headed home following her visit in France instead of traveling on to Saudi Arabia and Turkey with her husband. They told me she couldn’t go to Saudi Arabia , Turkey
or Iraq . I said “Laura Bush went to Saudi Arabia , Turkey and Dubai ..” They said that Obama is a Muslim, and by Muslim law he would not be allowed to bring his wife into countries that accept Sharia Law. Just thought it was interesting that two Arabs at Blockbusters accept the idea that we’re being led by a Muslim who follows the Islamic creed. They also said that’s the reason he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia .. It was a signal to the Muslim world. Just thought you would like to know.”

Fishing for catfish requires lots of patience. After the patience is gone you grab a stick and snag the fun little ones. And crawdads too.

The super dooper cat fish bait that worked really well last time was a complete dud this time. However at noon we drove back to the small town nearby and had pizza. There was pizza left over so we bought some cheese dip and headed back to the lake. It was on a piece of pepperoni dipped in cheese that Doodlebug hooked her first catfish. You know how sometimes they do that last flip of desperation? Well this one did and escaped before we could land it. It was possible the largest fish Doodlebug has hooked to date. Next time we will buy pizza first, and bring a net to scoop them out.

Life is good.

SCAR Deja Vu

Early 3 pronged M16 muzzle brake. Proved to be vulnerable to breaking and snagged on jungle vines etc.

For some time now the Special Ops types have been waiting for the SCAR (Speical Combat Assault Rifle). It comes in several configurations, and two calibers, 5.56 MM (like the M-16 AKA poodle shooter variety) and the 7.63 or 308 Winchester version.

I hear it is a really good weapons system. There are several major advantages to this thingie not the least of which is a gas piston which replaced the M16’s just dump the gas onto the bolt system. The piston greatly reduces heat transfer to the receiver area close to the shooter’s face.

I hope it finially reaches the field. That said, there is a story about it in the July 2009 issue of American Rifleman. Included is a photo of the muzzle of the weapon. I know it may be nit picky but … The following photos show a shot of an early M16 muzzle. It is open prongs like the SCAR. Another photo shows the improved M16 muzzle. You can see that it is not open prongs. Then the SCAR.

There are many reasons they changed the design. I know the Army is engaged in desert ops mainly. The open prong design of the early M16 went to war in the jungle. Those open prongs got snagged on vines and tangles as a matter of routine. The military improved the design by closing the prongs with design number two.

Also troops used the open prong muzzle to break the wires (in essence open) C-rat cartons, resulting in a whole lot of broken muzzle breaks.

Because the Army and Marines are currently in the desert, and not getting tangled up in the jungles, it looks to me like we are about to relearn that lesson concerning the benefit of a closed muzzle break.
