Wyatt the Rocker

Man oh man look at this from Beth. She says it was styled with no moose.
wyatt the rocker

This leads me to believe two things:
1. Beth played with dolls waay too much as a girl.
2. Beth has waay too much time home alone with the kids and is waaaay bored.

We love her anyway

Workout Challenge!!!

March 3, 2010 on 2:18 am | In Family | 5 Comments

It’s all Gr@ym@n’s fault! We are now offered the opportunity to jump in. This challenge will terminate in about a year when Gr@ym@n comes home from his favorite vacation site.

More details as available. Remember this contest will be like the last one … there will be several events. Everybody needs to pick some that suits them. It is open to girls and guys.

The idea is not to beat everyone in the competition. The idea is to beat yourself by the biggest margin.

For example I weigh 175 lbs … one goal I might pick is to lose 10 pounds. If I lose 5 I get .5 points. If I gain I lose points accordingly.

If I pick a three mile jog …. I take my time at the beginning … then at the end I find out how much better or worse that I did.

If I choose sit ups … same rule

I think Ner is gonna pick iron skillet jungling .. same rules .. measure at the start and the end.

Gr@ym@n might have the toughest time because he will be somewhere where they have events hard to duplicate here … like nuking a village .. or minigun field stripping contest.

We shall see.

More details as this thing unfolds. Many of you may remember out last challenge. It was fun and we all improved. I understand the entry fee (payable at the conclusion) will go into a pot and the most improved wins.

Why I carry a gun

February 18, 2010 on 3:45 am | In Family, Politics | No Comments

This has to be the most clear and logical explanation ever posted on why a law abiding citizen would want to be armed today!!!

“Why I Carry a Gun”

My old grandpa once said to me, “Son, there comes a time in every man’s life when he stops bustin’ knuckles and starts bustin’ caps and usually it’s when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin’. I don’t carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don’t carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I don’t carry a gun because I’m paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I don’t carry a gun because I’m evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I don’t carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don’t carry a gun because I’m angry. I carry a gun so that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don’t carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I don’t carry a gun because I’m a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to Heaven, I want to be a cowboy. I don’t carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love. I don’t carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because, unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate. I don’t carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. “Police Protection” is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I’m too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin’.”

Author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Hat Tip to my friend Ken who is a police officer.

Bless the Man

Gr@ym@n Sends …….

Subject: bless the man, bless the girl

bless the man
who protects this land
though most don’t know what he do
he goes to fight
whether it’s day or night
and his heart is always true
bless the man
who with his two hands
he kills with one, loves with the other
for it takes true strength
to go the length
that most refuse to another
bless the man
who sees so much death
he knows the true meaning of life
it ain’t for the money
it ain’t for the stuff
it’s to come home safely to his wife.

and bless the girl
he’s her only world
she’s always his rock and his stone
only for him she works hard and tries
every night alone she prays and cries
that someday their life is their own

The mayor also read a letter from the Governator .. Arnold Schwarzenegger. He had been told about Julie’s wish, and he wrote her. The mayor had a little trouble reading it. Arnold says Julie is his hero. In the beginning she wanted to meet him. Now he wants to meet her, and he has invited her to come visit him at his expense in California.

Veterans Day

November 11, 2009 on 3:30 pm | In Family, Mil Blog | 3 Comments

On this day, and on Memorial Day my thoughts go to those serving and those who have served. Especially my dad.

Here is a link to a site on the 41st Infantry Division in WWII, with first hand stories from those who served.

God Bless them all.
